Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how RankPotential ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use the RankPotential mobile application and related services (together, the "Service").

1. Who this policy applies to

RankPotential is aimed at students preparing for competitive exams (typically ages 14–22), plus their parents and teachers. If you are under 18, please use the Service only with the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

2. Information we collect

a. Information you provide

• Account details — name, email address, hashed password (for email/password sign-in), and your role (student, parent or teacher).
• Google account details — if you choose Google sign-in, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google's authentication service.
• Link code — a 6-digit code we generate for students and that parents/teachers can use to link accounts. Nothing else is shared automatically until an explicit link is made.
• Messages ("nudges") — plain-text messages a parent or teacher chooses to send to their linked student inside the app.

b. Information generated as you use the Service

• Practice activity — the exams and subjects you choose, your answers, per-question timings, session scores, streaks, XP points, and levels.
• Derived analytics — accuracy per chapter/topic, exam-readiness index, and (for AIR Zone sessions only) an AI-estimated All India Rank band.
• Device & log data — basic technical information such as device type, OS version, IP address for the request, and error logs. This is used only to keep the Service running.

c. Information we do not collect

• We do not collect precise location, contacts, SMS, photos, microphone or camera content.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please email excelbipro1@gmail.com so we can delete it.

3. How we use your information

• Provide the core Service: generate AI practice questions, score your answers, produce analytics and personalised mentor feedback.
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• Show a parent/teacher their linked student's progress (only after both parties have shared the 6-digit link code).
• Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or breaches of our terms.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Communicate with you — by creating an account and providing your email and/or mobile number, you agree that we may contact you at those addresses. This includes essential service messages (sign-in, password reset, purchase invoices, important notices) and, where permitted by law, updates, study tips, exam alerts, offers and other communications about RankPotential, sent via email, SMS/RCS, WhatsApp or push notification. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time (e.g. reply STOP, or email us) and will still receive essential service messages.

4. AI content generation

We use Anthropic Claude (via the Emergent integration platform) to generate practice questions, explanations, and mentor feedback. The prompts we send include your chosen exam / subject / chapter / difficulty and a numeric summary of your session performance (score, correct/incorrect counts, average time, weak concepts). We do not send your name, email, password, or any other directly identifying information to the AI provider.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:

• Linked parent/teacher accounts — with users you explicitly link via the 6-digit code, and only for the aggregated data described above.
• Service providers — hosting (Emergent), database (MongoDB), authentication (Emergent Google auth), AI (Anthropic via Emergent). They process data only on our behalf, under contractual confidentiality.
• Legal reasons — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
• Business transfer — if we merge with, are acquired by, or sell assets to another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your account and practice history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, sessions, and nudges within 30 days (immediately in most cases). Aggregated, non-identifiable statistics may be retained for product analytics.

7. Your rights and choices

• Access & correct — you can view and update your name, email and password inside the app.
• Delete — Profile → "Delete my account" removes your data immediately (see Section 6). This is available to student, parent and teacher accounts.
• Withdraw consent — you may sign out at any time; if you're logged in via Google, revoking access at Google Account permissions will also stop the Google sign-in flow.
• Contact us — for any privacy request, email excelbipro1@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Data security

We store passwords using industry-standard bcrypt hashing, secure all traffic in transit with HTTPS/TLS, and store authentication tokens using platform secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). No system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password.

9. International transfers

Our infrastructure and some of our sub-processors (Emergent, Anthropic, MongoDB) may be located outside your country of residence. Where required, appropriate legal safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) are in place.

10. Children

RankPotential is not directed to children under 13. If you are between 13 and 18, use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Parents and teachers are responsible for their linked students' use of the Service.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email at least 7 days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page is the most recent update.
